PBIS/Bullying Prevention

POSITIVE BEHAVIOR INTERVENTIONS AND SUPPORTS

As we seek to fulfill our district vision to be "a community of excellence," our work to provide all students a positive environment for learning is ongoing. Our Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) program at Oak Ridge uses the phrase "High Five" to promote positive behavior throughout our building. Our High Five program serves as a reminder to our students that they are to:

  • Be Kind
  • Be Respectful
  • Be Responsible
  • Be Cooperative
  • Be Safe

On a regular basis, our staff members teach students specific applications for these behaviors in different areas of our school. Click here to see a matrix that provides applications of these behaviors across our building. Our building PBIS Committee meets quarterly to monitor and support the implementation of PBIS at Oak Ridge.

BULLYING PREVENTION

Bullying Prevention is integrated in our PBIS program. Along with our High Five lessons, students at Oak Ridge are taught specific Bully Prevention strategies. To view sample lessons and strategies, view one of the resources used in Bully Prevention lesson development. This resource is supplemented by other resources to which Oak Ridge teachers have access.

Our District Policy on Bullying is Policy 5517.01; it may be reviewed by following the link to our district policies available on our website. District level support for our building PBIS and Bully Prevention programs includes special services staff that are available to support program development and to assist us in specific situations.
